What should you evaluate?
MES evaluations should follow a released production order through dispatch, execution, exceptions and closeout. Distinguish execution control from a dashboard that observes machine performance; monitoring products remain in the shop-floor category unless broader MES scope is established.
Order and operation context
A machine signal needs the right job, revision and operation.
Ask: How is a released order mapped to equipment, operators and the correct route?Operator interaction
Instructions and data capture must work under actual shift conditions.
Ask: Demonstrate logins, partial completion, corrections and a shift handover.Traceability
Material and operation history must stay connected when work changes.
Ask: Trace a split lot, rejected unit and reworked item through the proposed configuration.Exceptions
Normal demonstrations can conceal the work that causes data gaps.
Ask: What happens during network loss, machine downtime or an unplanned route change?Integration ownership
ERP, equipment and quality records need clear boundaries.
Ask: Which connection is included, what data moves, and who resolves failed messages?Configuration and rollout
A platform and a ready-configured solution impose different work.
Ask: Identify required modules, engineering effort, validation, upgrades and support ownership.Sources behind these evaluation criteria
