A maintenance shortlist becomes useful when it follows work the team already recognizes. Select one recurring preventive task, one recent breakdown and one repair delayed by missing parts. Describe the equipment, people, records and interruptions involved. These are evaluation cases, not evidence that any shortlisted product will improve uptime.
Map the asset and the work
Separate a production line, its machines and serviceable components. Preserve the identifiers technicians recognize. For each case, list how the request begins, who prioritizes it, what instructions apply and who decides the asset can return to service. Ask vendors to demonstrate those transitions rather than present only a completed dashboard.
Fiix’s official manufacturing material describes asset records, planned maintenance and spare-parts workflows. Those are documented scope examples. They do not settle which subscription, migration effort or equipment connections another plant requires.
Test the technician’s day
Have a person unfamiliar with the demonstration locate the asset and open the correct task. Record the steps needed to find instructions, issue a part, attach evidence and correct an error. Test weak connectivity with a controlled example and ask which actions remain available offline. Confirm how synchronization conflicts appear to supervisors.
Evaluate permissions using actual responsibilities. An operator reporting a fault, a technician completing work and a planner changing schedules may need different access. Ask whether requesters, contractors, read-only users and administrators have different licensing requirements. Do not compare proposals using technician seats alone when other paid roles are required.
Connect production and parts
Follow a repair that cannot begin until material arrives. Establish which system owns stock, purchasing and equipment availability. A spare-parts balance and a maintenance schedule should not be assumed to update an ERP automatically. Request the actual connection method, data direction, retry behavior and responsible support team.
Review the shutdown decision separately from the repair record. Identify who authorizes the window and how production receives a revised completion estimate. Keep operational approval with the people responsible for it; a software screen is not authorization to restart equipment.
Agree on a bounded pilot
Choose one area, a defined asset list and named users. Record initial data quality, current completion steps and unresolved exceptions before setting proposed success criteria. Measure adoption and record completeness alongside any operational indicators. Changes in downtime can have several causes and should not automatically be credited to a new application.
Finish with a written scope covering migration, configuration, training, support and a complete export. Preserve unresolved requirements as unknown until demonstrated. A successful pilot supplies evidence for the next rollout decision, not a universal performance promise.
