Where did the job cost change?
Compare one completed batch on the same scope and cost basis. Every calculation is visible, and your inputs stay in this browser.
The formula and its limits
Batch cost = programming/setup + run/conversion + material/scrap + outside processes + tooling/other. Variance = actual − estimated. Percentage change = variance ÷ estimated × 100; when the estimate is zero the percentage is undefined. Unit cost = matched batch cost ÷ good quantity.
Calculations use integer cents for totals. Both sides must use the same currency, rate conventions, included costs and quantity. Do not infer causality from a variance, compare unmatched revisions or treat absent actuals as zero. This tool does not predict machining times, generate manufacturing instructions, calculate tax or validate accounting policy.
The fictional example is deliberately simple and is not an industry benchmark. Sources for the workflow: our job-cost review guide and your own accepted job records. Downloaded files remain under your control.
